Orphan

I’m an orphan now.   My Mom passed away suddenly 5 years ago and  my Dad passed away last night.  It’s been a tough 6 weeks.   He held on to the very end then finally went peacefully.  Yesterday morning they transferred him from his home where we had set up hospice care to the hospice facility.   He was having a tough time but did finally get comfortable.  My sister, Judy, was the only one with him when he finally stopped breathing.   She had promised him she’d take care of him to the end.
Dad was diagnosed with stage IV melanoma 2 years ago.   He was, for the most part, asymptomatic until April.  Then everything changed.  Since then it was a long slow decline.  
He has a lot of friends and we will miss him so much.  I love you Dad.
